BUILDING:
A BIGGER TABLE
Phase 2 Update
From Vision Sunday | April 2023
to be with Jesus
to become like Jesus
to do what
Jesus did
WHAT ARE WE BUILDING?
Phase 1
AN EVERYDAY SPACE FOR EVERYONE
A GATHERING SPACE
Ethos will construct an “Everything but Sunday” facility. This multipurpose space will host generational gatherings: Ethos YTH nights, Ethos Young Adult worship nights, and new kids and family experiences. It will provide plenty of space to host current Ethos events like Team Nights, Ethos Groups, and I Love My City projects. The building will have a designated space for outreach - to grow the Ethos Grocery Give and to enhance partnerships with local school districts, Neighborhood Bridges, and others. Plus, it will create a new environment to facilitate faith conversations with seekers and skeptics through Alpha. And we can't wait to open the building to partnering organizations like Young Life and others.
The vision of the multipurpose space is to be a missional community space – a space IN the community & FOR the community.
NONPROFIT CAFE AND COFFEEHOUSE
Some time ago, southern Delaware County decided to be a “living room” community with no stores. As a result, the community was left without a central gathering space. To serve the community and provide a space for the people of our community, Ethos will open a nonprofit café and coffeehouse. Its goal is to serve excellent products and create an environment for healthy relationships to flourish and faith-based conversations to be initiated. All proceeds will go to amazing organizations that are making a difference throughout our city in Jesus’ name, such as She Has a Name, Out of Darkness, The Bair Foundation, and the Ethos Grocery Give.
WHAT ARE THE PLANS?
MASTER SITE PLAN
The Master Site Plan outlines a two-phase strategy for the nine buildable acre property. The Phase One multipurpose space is yellow, and the Phase Two Sunday facility is orange.
PHASE 1 & 2 OVERVIEW
Take a closer look at the multipurpose space (Phase One) and Sunday facility (Phase Two) floor plans next to one another. Note: the Phase Two drawing is a placeholder and is subject to change to meet the future needs of the Ethos family.
The pictures to the right provided inspiration for designing the multipurpose facility.
MULTIPURPOSE SPACE EXTERIOR
The exterior design of the building is simple and clean to complement the aesthetic of the surrounding area. The windows allow for guests to enjoy the beauty of the property and plenty of natural sunlight.
MULTIPURPOSE SPACE FIRST LEVEL FLOOR PLAN
The first level floor plan has designated rooms for the Cafe & Coffeehouse, local outreach, conference rooms, and large group gatherings.
MULTIPURPOSE SPACE
BACK PATIO
The back of the building has a covered patio with ceiling fans to create an enjoyable outdoor gathering place. The patio will lead to an open lawn area where we can host outdoor events.
MULTIPURPOSE SPACE LOBBY ENTRANCE
Upon entering the lobby, visitors will be greeted by an accent wall communicating Ethos values & culture. And to the left is the Ethos Grocery Give and outreach space - demonstrating the mission of the building: to be FOR the community.
CAFE & COFFEEHOUSE
The Cafe & Coffeehouse provides a gathering place for people in the community. And all proceeds from the business will go to support local organizations that are making a difference.
GATHERING SPACE
The 2,600 square foot gathering space offers daily meeting space for the Ethos team, YTH, Ethos YA, as well as the greater community through the Cafe & Coffeehouse. The large open room will allow us to facilitate large group ministry and gatherings. And the conference room spaces open up to the large room to add 400 square feet for events.
WHY ARE WE BUILDING?
TO CONTINUE LOVING ALL PEOPLE
IN JESUS' NAME
We feel God’s leading to own a facility of our own as a "stake in the ground" in the community. For the past three years, we have set up and torn down temporary and one-time rental facilities. Simply put, a permanent facility allows us to best carry out the mission of Ethos and serve our community.
And practically, we need additional space to create a community gathering space for the Ethos Family. We have outgrown the Ethos House (located off Lewis Center Rd) which has hosted Ethos YTH, worship rehearsals, team meetings, and Ethos offices.
WHERE ARE WE BUILDING?
AFRICA ROAD, WESTERVILLE
Ethos owns nine buildable acres of undeveloped land on Africa Rd. The property is near Alum Creek Dam and The Sanctuary at the Lakes neighborhood. The address is 6576 Africa Rd., Westerville, OH 43021.
Delaware County has plans to build an I-71 interchange at Africa Rd in the coming years; this will make the Ethos property accessible to people from any part of the Columbus area.
HOW ARE WE BUILDING?
PARTNERSHIP & STEWARDSHIP
Ethos has the privilege to work with some fantastic, local construction partners. M+A Architects is designing and completing the drawings, The Kleingers Groups are acting as our civil engineer firm to ensure the building fulfills all of the Delaware County and Orange Twp requirements, and Elford Construction is our General Contractor and Construction Manager.
Ethos plans to pay for the construction of the building through cash on hand and the continued generosity of the Ethos Family, with the option to borrow (in a healthy capacity) from a church lending institution.
PRAYER POINTS
Prayer is our first response, not our last resort.
“And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” – 2 Corinthians 9:8
Provision
God, thank you for the vision and land you have entrusted to Ethos. We ask you to build your church and provide the proper resources and relationships to fulfill your vision for the Ethos property. None of this is ours. It's all yours, Lord; use it for your glory.
Partnership
Use me, God, to play a part in building for all people. Help me to see how I can make a difference through prayer, generosity, my network, and servant leadership.
Wisdom
Holy Spirit, give Ethos wisdom and guidance throughout the building process. Allow us to see when, where, and how you are working and what you want us to do to remain in step with you.
"Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”– Ephesians 3:20
What part can I play in the "Building: For All People" project?
PRAYER
Ask God for wisdom throughout the process - for provision to fund the project and for the ministry that will occur within the building.
NETWORK
Connect Ethos with vendors and organizations you know to help complete the project.
GENEROSITY
Ask God what He would have you give towards the mission and vision of Ethos. More info to come on how you can give.
SERVANT LEADERSHIP
Use your trade skills to execute finishes for the building. We are considering inviting the Ethos family to execute some building items: painting, laying tile, landscaping, and more.
LEGACY TEAM
A servant leader team that is using the gift of generosity to make a difference in the Building: For All People project.
